Paper Rex and Xerxia Esports met in the upper semifinals of APAC Challengers 1, where Paper Rex used an interesting agent composition of Yoru (f0rsakeN), Raze (Jinggg), Breach (Benkai), Skye (d4v41), and Brimstone (mindfreak). This composition allowed Paper Rex to keep Xerxia on their toes throughout the map by utilizing fast explosive plays on both attack and defense.
Paper Rex utilized both Yoru’s and the map’s teleports to quickly ambush Xerxia with their many flashes. Many of their defensive rounds involved fast aggression as soon as the round started, Xerxia had to play back and it felt like they didn’t get much opportunity to play their own game.
Paper Rex had set ideas of how to take control of each intermediate part of the map (showers, short A hookah and long B). Using this control they were able to set up big executes onto sites or use their map control to deny information and move around the map as a group.
